Lolcals Report - Not Pleased

First up I've had the opening to Rockman.exe Stream stuck in my head all day long;

And while we're at it, Axess' opening;

It's scary how it's been around 10 years since these came out.

Anyway Locals was today and I decided I'd try to have some "fun" by playing Rank-Up Magic Hunder control and possibly play a game against Monkey's REDRUM Control deck.  Sadly he worked and the awesome Rank-Up Magic Match never happened.  So I ended up buying a box of Dragons of Legend and got;

3x Soul Charge
3x Wiretap
3x Ayer's Rock Sunrise
2x Kuribandit
2x Ice Hand
1x Fire Hand
1x Legendary Knight Timaeus
1x The Eye of Timaeus
1x Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight

I traded off the Yugi cards for a Downerd Magician which I needed for a few decks so overall I'm like "not bad" with the box and immediately sleeve up the Charges in my Hunders.  Then the tournament began;

Round 1 - vs Xyz Zombie (1-2)

Game 1; I do a few things, but get blown out by Dark Armed Dragon.

Game 2; Didn't realize he had an Exciton Knight and I damn near lost to it.  Thankfully I kill it, then rush with some little guys for the win.

Game 3; I open with a Utopia Victory...and it gets Creature Swapped.  I lose from having no outs to the thing.  Fucking hate Creature Swap.

So I'm not exactly happy at this point as I got sacked Game 1 and Creature Swap has been the bane of my existence for years now.  I think I've lost about 20+ games now to the damn thing.  Then the next rounds are announced and I'm paired against Retard McAutism and just sigh.

Round 2 - vs 60 card Agents (2-0).

Game 1; People like these are never fun to play against, just because there's nothing to gain from the duels.  You'll shitstomp them because their decks/card choices/thinking are awful and if you lose its because they fucking sacked the holy shit out of you.  In this case I have to put up with not one but two Swords of Revealing Light (and we all know how much I detest stall cards).

Whatever.  I go off with Soul Charge despite this, draw out the ass and eventually beat him, stall cards be damned.

Game 2; My traps keep him from doing jack all as I Rank-Up into a C69 and beat him to death.  I even have Divine Wrath for the Gorz.

Round 3 - vs Creator Dark World (2-1)

Oh hey, it's Magnus!  Haven't seen him here since Regionals.  At first I scolded him for playing Dark World because good people don't play degenerate decks.  However it's the Creator build which means there's considerably less faggotry here.

Game 1 - I open complete ass for the Dark World matchup.  Mirror Forces are awful and while I do make a game of this, I eventually run out of steam from not being able to get to Thunder Seahorse and lose.

Game 2 - I do the usual Hunder plays of Seahorse toolboxing while he sits on a Zenmaines.  Eventually he starts coming at me and I use Soul Charge to make an ARK to steal his Grapha, it gets Veiler'd and I rank it up into DARK and steal it anyway.  Mwahahahahahahahah!

After that he gets a little greedy and I punish him for it with Vanity's Emptiness.

Game 3 - I have Banisher of the Radiance and am able to Rank-Up into Utopia Victory and just swing with it until he dies.

After that Monkey shows up and talkings are had.  Then the top cut is posted.

Top 4 - vs Xyz Zombies (2-0).

Game 1 - I really don't remember much of this one.  I think I keep him from doing a whole bunch and get a Rank-Up off to win.

Game 2 - I just slaughter him with Constellar Omega and Abyss Dweller.

Finals - Inzektors (0-2)

Fuck.  This.  Deck.

No seriously I fucking hate Inzektors with a passion.  To this day I still believe that Inzektor Hornet is one of the worst designed cards in the entire game.  Bitch all you want about Soul Charge, Dragon Rulers and etc (and I won't argue that) but a card that punishes you for having cards on the field, able to be used as many times as possible as you have things to equip it is fucking garbage.  I've never liked Inzektors and it seems to be that most of the decks I enjoy playing have awful matchups against this deck.  Hunders especially fare terribly against them and I was not prepared for this matchup at all.  Figures the one time I DON'T have Shadow-Mirror in the side is the time that I face Derpzektors.

I fucking hate this deck.

Game 1 - I open with the kind of things you really don't want to see against Inzektors so I'm forced to burn things I don't want to burn early like TT and MST just to keep my field from being completely picked off.  I make some attempts at turning the game around but he has all of the bloody outs between CED, Chain, Torrential and BTH.  Also Dark Armed.

Game 2 - I open Banisher of the Radiance yay!

...unfortunately I have nothing to keep it from being run over by Hopper.  So that thing dies and I don't draw much else.  I think I make a last attempt at something but then he drops Dark Armed and I lose.

That's it.  Shadow Mirror goes into all of my side decks from here on out.  Between Inzektors, Dark World, Gimmick Puppet and the upcoming Shadolls I have more than enough reason to run it.

After that we went to Robins, I completely shitstomped the Agent guy with Dragon Rulers because I was in an unforgiving mood and he's retarded enough to take such a beating with a smile.  Have I mentioned he's someone that most of us don't want around but follows us to Robins anyway?  Seriously he's annoying.  Following that I played a few games of cube, found even less reasons to want to keep playing cube and proceeded to get dickbutted in Vanguard several times.  I also got to see someone else play against Woodhouse and get Woodhoused repeatedly.  He table flipped and rightly so.  The guy is all sack and no skill.

Also Megamonkey picked up a Super Rare German Blizzard Dragon that will be mine.

You know it will.

Props
-Ranking Up into DARK to do DARK things.  He's so good.
-Opening damn near god at Dragons of Legend
-Taking Hunders to Final cut at Locals, sacking from my opponents be damned.

Slops
-Dark Armed Dragon
-Inzektors
-Getting dickbutted.  Alot.

Lolcals Report - Shooting Star, Cut Through The Night

A bit late in getting to this but unfortunately I wasn't feeling well at all when I came home from Locals and had to go into work on an off day.  That being said this was the first official Advanced Tournament of the new format at Tramps and for reasons I don't know even now I decided to run Constellars.  Maybe it was because I updated X-Stars last week which had a dynamic duel between Constellar and Gishki.  That and it was an excuse to bust out a partially DT foiled deck.

I arrive to find out that a few people weren't able to make it (namely Monkey) so it was up to Cobb and myself to do the Breakfast Club and Seven Emperors of Regina proud as the only people present that were playing legit decks.

Challenge accepted.

I buy some packs of Valiant on a whim and pull Number 101 Steal yo girl which makes me super excited while at the same time VASTLY improving half of my decks.  Would this be my day?  Well...

Round 1 - vs Dark World

Initially I was paired up against someone else but he was running late.  Normally in these circumstances that means game/match loss and stuff but apparently at Tramps if you call ahead of time they'll ignore it.  Eventually I complain about the situation to the TO and she redoes round 1 pairings so that the two people running late play against each other and the people they were paired up against would play.  In this case I got paired up against a deck that bad players love and good players hate.

Game 1: I win the dieroll and open with Pleiades with a Lance and two MSTs to his Tour Guide and 2 Gates.  He was not happy with the results.  Then I made Dweller and ended him.

Game 2: He Blind Crushes calling Kaus but I only had a Sombre and defensive cards so it was no biggie, especially when it was the Grapha I discarded as opposed to say Snoww.  I summon Sombre and poke with it while using Prison, Lance and Book to keep it alive until I'm able to hit a Tenki and resolve a Full House for the blowout, popping his Gates and 3 face downs (Dragged Down, Advanced Draw and something irrelevant) and just make Abyss Dweller and win.

1-0.  This guy and another baddie are the reason why siding 2 Full House in Regina will never fail you.  Oh he was not happy when I resolved it while complaining about Tenki in general and calling out Dragon Rulers as a sacky, unskilled deck.

I just love it when bad people start talking out of their asses on things they will never comprehend.

Round 2 - vs Gimmick Puppet

Game 1 -  He opens Card Trooper and mills 3 while I open Algiedi + Kaus and run it over before making Pleiades.  He's eventually able to get over it while having Lances for my attempts to stop his plays but I'm able to keep in the game, resolve a Bear and force him to keep making Gimmick Puppet Xyz as opposed to Felgrand who I did not want to see.

Game 2 - He opens Card Trooper and mills 3 while I open Algiedi + Kaus and run it over before making Pleiades...wait what?  Yeah it was odd like that.  He Giant Grinders and does Argent Force stuff but my Prisons, Chains and etc keep me in it long enough to make another Pleiades and ride it to victory.

2-0

Round 3 - vs Sylvans

Game 1 - I open sub standard and go into Bujintei Tsukiyomi to draw into more backrow and eventually start to take control of the game.  I keep him from dropping or resolving Hermitree and he fizzles because of it.

Game 2 - I don't remember this game much but I have Warning for his Lonefire play and make Dweller and win with it.

3-0

After that Top 8 cut is announced and I'm like "k" since it was 3:00.

Top 8 - vs Hazy Kings

This was the guy I was gonna face Round 1 had I not asked for something to be done and I'm wondering how he topped over one of my fellow Emperors.  Turns out he was playing Fire Kings and I'm like "ah."

Game 1 - I open with Pleiades and pass with some sets, but he has Blaster the Dragon Ruler in hand and an Onslaught so he dies and I have to play around that.  I have Honest for when his Garunix attacks and he never opts to revive his Blaster so I eventually out grind him and win.

Game 2 - He decides to let me go first while I'm in the middle of siding in hand traps and I immediately take them back out and bring in Floodgates instead.  Wouldn't you know, I opened with Soul Drain.  This ended quickly.

4-0 I walk around after this round and witness Cobb in his match against Junk Doppel and his opponent has Shooting Quasar Dragon AND Stardust Dragon on board to his basically awful board.  Thanks to Destiny he's able to survive the turn and has Medraut + Equip spell and has a Book set.  He baits out the Quasar with Book and does Medraut stuff while looking over his extra deck.  I'm talking (quietly) with Matt and Sylvan guy about his options and they suggest going into 101 to take the Quasar and while I thought that was a good play (it was the first thing I thought of) I realized there was a better way to go about it.  Go into Sacred Artorigus, run over Stardust THEN blow up Quasar with his effect and sit on a 3700 beater that can't be killed.  Shooting Star wasn't able to negate his attack since it targets and he won.

Top 4 - vs Noble Knights

Oh hey its Cobb, my first legit opponent today!

Game 1 - I win the dieroll and open with Pleiades with protection which is a real bitch to get around for Nobles.  The deck is SO reliant on getting that first Normal Summon off successfully and Pleiades can just bounce that shit back.  He isn't able to draw into Drystan and I win.

Game 2 - He opens up with the ideal play of High Artorigus + 4 Equips that requires ALOT of work to get around.

Or Zombie World.

Cobb legit did not know about this being a thing and was promptly blown out by the card as he lost all of his equips and that left his Artorigus open to my 101 and I swing for 2100.  He's able to make a 101 of his own and takes mine but I Prison it and make Pleiades and win.

5-0

Finals - vs Gimmick Puppets

Game 1 - Not as good as our last encounter as I have more answers for his plays and win this one in quick manner.

Game 2 - I open with Macro Cosmos while he bricks terribly.  He scoops.

6-0

So I end the tournament undefeated while explaining my Full House story to Megamonkey and then we all go to Robins for duels and stuff.  I eventually get a stomach ache off of what I had but not before I playtest with Ripple Aqua Force and do AMAZING with it and playtest Jewel Knights vs Revengers and...well...hell froze over.  By that I mean I was at 5 damage and I no guarded, got the Heal Trigger that let me stay in the game then on my next turn when my opponent forced me to go 2 to pass I actually HIT both triggers and win.

Like seriously I do not get these kind of breaks in Vanguard.

After that we went home.

Props
-Topping with Constellars.  It's always nice to win with decks used by characters in your Fanfic.  Hush.
-WINNING with Constellars.  I legit like this thing.  It's one of the few decks I've kept playing for almost a year straight now.
-Ripping the 101 from a pack.
-Blowing out Dark World with Full House

Slops
-None.  I was for once not salty this entire day.
