CFV Locals Report - Making Due

First post of the year and we're going to kick it off with what's going to honestly be a short post as Locals as of late has been...underwhelming.  We've had 4 person turnouts for the last while and I'm really hoping this changes as our Vanguard Locals for the majority of last year was actually worth going to as we had a few decent players worth playing against (and a lot of bad players that you generally want to avoid unless you're paired up with them).  You'd think if people went to the trouble of buying out our entire stock of Shadow Paladin Extra Boosters on set release then they'd at least show up to Locals once in a while.

Also about the whole buying out every pack of X set on the day of the release; as much as I want to say doing that is scummy as it screws everyone else out of a chance to build the deck...this is a game where alot of people do in fact place themselves first and everyone else is an afterthought, so I'd say it's a case of the kettles calling the pots black.  If Tramps only had 3 Genesis EBs when I was present and buying all 3 was within my budget at the time, would I do it?  Probably and I know other people in that position would do the same.  The problem really is that Tramps' owner doesn't think CFV sells so he never orders more than just the initial shipment.  If we actually had routine stock, there would be no problem.

I digress, onto the tournament itself.  As it was short I don't remember the order of the rounds.  Just the results.

Yggdrasil vs Revengers (2-0)

Incoming Rant unrelated to this match;

This is 2015.  Raging Form Dragon isn't good anymore.  Revengers have evolved to being more focused on consistent tempo plays and RFD doesn't help this.  He's become nothing more than a sack card that steals games.  And yes I still do believe he's a sack card.  Cards can be bad, see less play or be straight up power crept out of the game but they are still bullshit sack cards that steal games.  Look at Yu-Gi-Oh! and the myrad of cards that despite seeing little play are still fucking dumb with BLS and Honest being prime examples.  BLS saw no play for the majority of 2013 and half of 2014 yet ask many a (good) player what one card they would have loved to see banned because of its ability to steal games that someone did not deserve to win even though it was irrelevant in the format.  That's right.  Sack Luster Soldier.

Don't get me wrong, Raging Form is no BLS, but do you see what I'm getting at?

"Well it helped me won so it's good."

No.  That's a fucking terrible philosophy and any player with an understanding of card games KNOWS why it's bad.

End Rant.

Now in regards to this match, I thrash him because Dimension Police are cheese incarnate.  Wait what?  I'm playing Yggdrasil?  Eh, same thing.

Yggdrasil vs Glendios (2-0 or 2-1)

I forget alot of this, other than he kept locking Prayer Angel instead of my G2s.  I think I lose one to just not drawing well, a weakness of Genesis with its lack of draw power.

Yggdrasil vs Shotgun Blow/Wild Rush/Skybeat (1-2)

This one I remember because it's Megamonkey and he generally tries to make Vanguard games more technical, applying card gaming theory to his plays like I've tried.  That and he was playing a deck I literally threw together the night before the tournament and well, it worked.  I won G1 with a 50k Yggdrasil at 4 damage, brick game 2 and Game 3 I get rushed with a weak hand.  After that round I got the bye and that was the tournament.  I ended up tied for first and get a Thing Saver Mat (while pulling a TSD) for Cobb and then went to Monkey's place for Smash and lulz.  Apparently I'm a "little beech" at Smash but know what?

PEW PEW PEW MOTHERFUCKERS!

Also to hell with for glory.  Gimmicks and Items forever <3

Props
-Yay a tournament
-Finished 3 decks

Slops
-Despite being able to use G-Assist, I still lost.  I'm beginning to think that even with it, the sheer loss in advantage from using G Assist when playing a deck without inherent draw power will result in the game becoming out of reach.
