V-EB12 Narukami Spoilers - Week 1

It begins for real!  At this point you guys know what to expect out of this posts so I'ma just head right into it.  On a sidenote I'm only going to talk about stuff that was revealed up to now.  Hopefully Vanquisher himself gets revealed on this week's stream.

Bolt Slug Dragon
AUTO (RC) When it attacks, if three or more cards were bound this turn, COST [Soul Blast 1] and this unit gets Power+10000 until end of that battle.

This admittedly is a promo but we got Volt Pike Dragoon faster than I expected so maybe this one will come over as a box topper eventually?  It's not that great to be honest but with it we do get some information on how Narukami will be designed in this set.  Namely the magic number of 3 cards bound in the turn and it doesn't care how they're bound or who they're bound from.  This will likely be the case with other cards in the set that care about binding as opposed to keeping the front row clear.  24k on Accel 2 isn't awful and not being CB based isn't bad either but Narukami has a gold mine of good Grade 2s to work with and this isn't one of them.

Thunderlead Dragon
ACT (RC) COST [Counter Blast 2], choose one of your opponent’s front row rear-guards, bind it and this unit gets Power+5000 until end of turn.

Why did they feel the need to make a Grade 1 Hammerknuckle Dragon?

Tactical Dagger Dragoon
AUTO (RC) When placed, COST [Soul Blast 1], and this unit gets Power+5000 until end of turn. You may switch all of your opponent’s rear-guards between the front and the back rows. (They all move simultaneously. The center column does not move)

And here we have a Grade 2 version of Lizard Soldier, Riki.  Didn't we yeet that guy out with Set 5?  We did.

Storm Discharge Wyvern
AUTO (RC) When an attack it boosted hits a vanguard, if the number of your rear-guards is greater than the number of cards in your hand by two or more, draw a card.

This...is actually not bad.  Just a bit too late.  If he had come out in Set 5 then it probably would have seen play at some point over Gaiban if the format didn't require it.  This clan definitely has an issue keeping hand what with the discards that come up and a standard setup of accel attacker, 2 full columns and a VG booster with a 4 card hand is common.  I'd keep an eye on this one.

Blitz Caliber Dragon
CONT (VC) During your turn, if any card was bound this turn, this unit gets [Power]+20000.

It doesn't work on Rear?  Pass.

Voltage Horn Dragon
CONT (VC/RC) During your turn, if any card was bound this turn, this unit gets Power+5000.
AUTO (RC) When it attacks a vanguard, COST [Counter Blast 1], choose a column, choose one of your opponent’s front row rear-guard in that column, bind it, choose one of your opponent’s back row rear-guard in that column, and move it to an open (RC) in the same column.

It's even better than what we knew from the anime.  Voltage gains power off of any card being bound which means binding your hand due to the opponent having no field will set it off and hell even cards from Premium format like Hardrod Dracokid, OG Chatura and Vanquisher "V-BUSTER" will trigger Standard Voltage Horn.  Gaining it on V also means you can hit 10-12K Grade 2s which has always been rather annoying to deal with before.  The removal effect is simple, enables Rising Phoenix in the battle phase and while the pull up is manditory it also means you have another bind target to trigger more Rising Phoenix in the battle phase.  Fantastic card that will see play.  However I'm going to be in the minority and say that I think his artwork isn't as good as the original's.

That's it for week 1.  Tune in next time where we hopefully have Dragonic Vanquisher to look at.  Who knows given that it's New Years time and COTD reveals may get wonky for the time being.

All in all no major changes happened with EB10's release other than allowing Gold Paladin to escape the shackles of Ezel and be a less gimmicky deck.  The other two clans in the set?  Meh.  GN is okay but why play it over the 5 better Accel decks (and Shadows) and the less said about NN the better.  It'll probably take a bit to see what BT does what with it being the holiday season and whatnot.

More of the same.  Neo Nectar still remains topless and Genesis got its obligatory one of top albeit the Himiko variant this time.  Aggravain continues to be the best deck of Mehsterious Fortune.
