So teams are back. Where to begin? In regards to Singles Narukami has sadly been unable to break into a top 4 finish in spite of the hype it had going into this set release. An issue someone brought up is that deck either claps someone or gets clapped by someone due to the hand losses you take with Gauntlet Buster Dragon when you're not actually plussing which makes it easier for your opponent to kill you on the crackback. I can't say I disagree with that statement as I said in the Spoiler Review that GBD's hand discard was concerning. The deck is performing very well in teams however with many appearances throughout the weekend and with BT as a common team mate. Makes sense as BT is still very popular and sees a ton of play in teams and NK has the advantage in that matchup.
RP is the first of the BT05 decks to notch a top while Golds and OTT made some sporadic appearances with the latter deck shifting towards Tsukuyomi + Imperial (who functions as an excellent first ride with her ability to scry 2 and potentially soul charge a missing ride chain piece). Nubatama as expected flopped in Standard but is killing it in Premium as once again we see just how fucking stupid Shiranui Rinne is as a card. What the hell were they thinking when they designed that thing? What's more interesting is the turn OTT has taken in Premium with the focus of the deck now being on the Tsukuyomi aspect and with it you have better stability and the ability to set up a fat stack that pairs well with Ichikishima 2.0. The fact that the deck draws alot means you're liable to hit the stack on an Ichikishima turn and blow out the opponent.
That's it for week 1. Can Narus bounce back and show that they're actually decent outside of Teams? Is Kagero shifting from being focused on the Great to DOTE in response to Narukami a one time thing or will this be the standard for the deck going forward? Until next week.
